5 year performance Based contract appointment Based at Head Office (East London)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree / B-Tech in Civil Engineering Preferred Qualification:
  • MBA, MBL or equivalent.

Professional Registration:

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer / Technologist or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

Minimum Experience:

  • 15 years’ experience in infrastructure management of which 5 years should be at a senior / executive management level.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5 years’experience in the water environment including operations, water plant design/upgrades or process control related to purification works.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the appointee will, as part of the Executive team:

  • Assist the Board of Amatola Water to realise its strategic objectives to ensure that the organisation is financially viable.
  • Keep abreast of developments related to institutional arrangements and technical practices.
  • Manage and coordinate the operational and capital budgeting processes throughout the planning and implementation stages.
  • Formulate and review policies, supply agreements and the general conditions of water supply.
  • Support the business development function of Amatola Water to increase sales and contribute towards the viability and growth of the organisation.

Key Performance Areas will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Infrastructure planning and design
  • Project management
  • Water Resources management
  • Environmental management
  • Scientific Services management
  • Institutional and social development
  • Marketing and business development support
  • Employee Management

Other requirements:

  • Planning and Project management experience
  • Relationship building and people management skills
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge (mechanical, electrical and civil)
  • Good communication and interpersonal relations skills
  • In depth knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Sound financial management and problem solving skills
  • Good knowledge of working in a political environment
  • Computer literacy, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Valid unendorsed driver’s license
